Professor Joakim Lundeberg Joins Navinci’s Board of Directors
Uppsala, Sweden – 13 October, 2025 – Navinci announces that Professor Joakim Lundeberg has joined its Board of Directors, succeeding Jon-Sverre Schanche, who is stepping down after 5 years of service.
Professor Lundeberg is a world-leading expert in molecular biotechnology and spatial biology. He is Professor at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Co-Founder of SciLifeLab, and Scientific Co-Director of its Spatial Biology Platform. He also co-founded Spatial Transcriptomics AB, whose pioneering method for spatially barcoding mRNA – published in Science in 2016 – was commercialized by 10x Genomics as Visium, now the global standard in spatial transcriptomics.
With 340+ publications, 40+ PhD students supervised, and multiple biotech start-ups co-founded, Professor Lundeberg has been recognized with an ERC Advanced Grant, Wallenberg Scholar Award, and is among the world’s most highly cited researchers. His current research focuses on expanding the spatial modalities and developing new AI tools and applications in the human cell atlas, neurology, and cancer.
